Jessica Barensfeld

Name & Place of Origin
Jessica Barensfeld. I go by Jessie.
Cincinnati, OH (birth-12) NYC (12-now)

Life accomplishments {or goals if still in the making }
Creating a happy life (waking up and truly being happy with my life). Realizing I’ll never get away from myself and in turn accepting me and going with it (I’d say in honesty I’m 80% there). Surrounding myself with beautiful friends who inspire me and enrich my life like a garden. Starting a business when I could barely pay rent amidst a recession (still struggling but every month seems a touch better – we’ll see). Pushing myself to do things that make me uncomfortable – are risky but feel right.

GOALS:
To go to North Korea because it’s on par with going to the Moon.
Going to the Moon.
Getting rescued from a bear attack by Robert De Niro so I can say, ‘Mr. De Niro you’re my hero’ and have it make sense.
Having a place of my own outside of the city in the ‘country’ where I can build a treehouse.
SWIMMING WITH WHALES IN THE OCEAN – I want to really understand their huge scale and hear them singing.
Owning a Jellyfish (yet to figure out the details on this one).
Success in both my endeavors (JBA and Lynn & Lawrence).
Keeping my body strong so I can do yoga and surf until I die.
Die peacefully in me sleep.
‘Live it up because life just keeps flashing before your eyes.’
-Lewis Motisher / Vince Collins

Oh god-there are SO MANY! I LOVE GIRLS!!!
First, I have to say my mom for starters she gave birth to me without drugs and said something like: if giving birth is this intense and beautiful, death must be an amazing trip.
Annie Oakley, Isabella Rossellini – god, soooo beautiful, Bethany Hamilton (the super rad chick who lost her arm to a shark and said Fuck it – having one less arm is not going to stop me from what I love and what I live for. She now rides triple overheads with perfect grace.) Garance Doré – as sweet as a pussy-willow, worked hard & smart to get where she is and exudes talent and taste. Nina Simone, walk like a woman/talk like a man – GODDESS. Elsa Peretti is just amazing and her work is a timeless source of inspiration. Amelia Earhart, who I may have to name my first born girl after.

• What or who motivated you to do what you do?
Well lots of people of course. I was Philip Crangi’s first intern way back & he is really great. Have to say my boyfriend Simon is a pretty ACE motivator. He listens, amps me up, calms me down, sets me strait and all that good stuff.
• What advice would you give to yourself if you were to start pursuing your career again?
Your 20’s are a really tough time actually and a confusing time but don’t rush it. Meet lots of people expose yourself to many things and soak up the info to use it later for your own decisions. Once you decide on your path really fully dedicate yourself. Be confident because if you don’t have confidence in yourself it will be that much harder for others to. Everyone is worthy – find your purpose.
Use smiley faces and frown faces all the time because if your words don’t convey your message these surely will. 🙂
